3:30-4:30 | Risks around unstructured data within an M365 Environment | In this session we will hear from a CyberCX Senior Investigator of Digital Forensics & Incident Response, Lee Morgan and Director of Microsoft Cloud, Jacob Estrin on the risks around unstructured data within a M365 environment. Most of the data breaches investigated by CyberCX involve the attacker stealing sensitive data, then threatening the victim organisation to publish it online unless an extortion payment is made to the attacker. Of more concern in recent cases, CyberCX has observed attackers applying far more focussed and sophisticated efforts to stealing the most highly sensitive data held by victim organisations and leveraging it to full affect during engagement and negotiations. In this presentation, Lee Morgan will be walking through how these attacks are performed, shining a light on the techniques attackers use to locate and steal sensitive data. Based on the insights gained through hundreds of data breach investigations, Lee and Jacob will also outline some of the most practical and effective methods to reduce the threat of data theft extortion. |
